About Northside Hill

Northside Hill is a neighborhood shaped by working people, generations of families and the parks and public spaces we share. The Northside Hill Neighborhood Association brings neighbors together to protect that character and build an even stronger community.

A Neighborhood Built by Working People

Northside Hill grew alongside Eau Claire’s lumber industry in the late 1800s. Many of its early residents worked in the mills, factories and businesses that developed along the river and near the city’s center.

Modest homes, neighborhood businesses and gathering places grew around those families. Over time, the neighborhood welcomed new generations of workers connected to local manufacturing, including the Uniroyal tire plant, as well as schools, small businesses and expanding city services.

That history can still be seen in Northside Hill’s mix of older homes, tree-lined streets, parks and distinct pockets of development. It remains a neighborhood with deep roots, a practical spirit and a strong sense of place.

Our Neighborhood Association

The Northside Hill Neighborhood Association was re-formed in 2022 after an approximately 25-year hiatus. Following a neighborhood outreach effort, elections were held and new bylaws were signed at the Association’s first Annual Meeting at McDonough Park on August 31, 2022.

Today, the Association is led by a seven-member Steering Committee elected by the neighborhood’s voting members. Committee members volunteer their time to organize events, support neighborhood projects, manage the Association’s work and represent resident concerns.

We are a volunteer-led 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, not a homeowners association. We do not charge membership dues or regulate private property.

If You Live Here, You Belong

Adult residents within the Northside Hill neighborhood boundaries are automatically voting members of the Association. Local businesses and organizations are also welcome to participate as non-voting members.

Residents are encouraged to attend meetings, share ideas, raise concerns, volunteer and take part in the decisions that shape our neighborhood.

What Guides Our Work

Our bylaws describe a neighborhood built around respect, communication, community participation and responsible care for the places we share.

Build Community

Create opportunities for neighbors to meet, work together and feel connected to the place they call home.

Care for Our Neighborhood

Protect Northside Hill’s natural beauty, public spaces, historic character and quality of life.

Give Residents a Voice

Keep communication open among neighbors and work with the City of Eau Claire on issues that matter to our community.

Neighbors Turning Ideas Into Action

Since re-forming, the Association has rebuilt its communication network, expanded its social media and email outreach, organized neighborhood meetings and created more ways for residents to participate.

We have brought neighbors together through the annual neighborhood picnic, Northside Nights, park activities, volunteer projects, brat stands and other community fundraisers. We have also worked with the City of Eau Claire on pedestrian safety, Birch Street concerns, parks and other neighborhood priorities.

In 2026, that work grew to include Party for the Parks and the first Mt. Simon Classic disc golf fundraiser. These volunteer-led events brought people from across Eau Claire together while raising support for improvements at Mt. Simon Park.

Every project has been possible because neighbors, local businesses, volunteers and community partners chose to help.

Current Community Project

A Permanent Restroom for Upper Mt. Simon Park

One of our largest current priorities is raising $70,000 toward a permanent public restroom near the Upper Mt. Simon playground.

This practical improvement would make the park easier to use for families, hikers, disc golfers, volleyball players, picnic groups and everyone who comes to enjoy Mt. Simon.

Help Shape What Comes Next

The Association belongs to the neighborhood. New projects, events and priorities begin with residents who are willing to share an idea or lend a hand.
